AnnotationThis latest report presents information from the national data collection resulting from the Referrals, Assessments and Packages of Care (RAP) Project. The aim is to provide a fuller picture of the numbers of people receiving community care services and those going through the referral and assessment process carried out by their social services departments (SSDs). The components of service are: day care; meals; home care or home help. Just over 2 million contacts from new clients were made to Councils with Adult Social Services Responsibilities in England in 2006-07, relatively unchanged from 2005-06. Just over 1.million of these contacts (51%) resulted in further assessment of need or the commissioning of ongoing service and just under 1 million (49%) contacts were attended to solely at or near the point of contact. National summary can be found online at: www.ic.nhs.uk/statistics-and-data-collections/soci... (KJ/RH).
