AnnotationThis is the first in a series of three bulletins in the InFocus series designed to help service providers in considering the personalisation agenda in social care with regard to equality and diversity issues. It uses sources such as National Minimum Standards to inform good practice in assessment, care planning, choice and control regarding service use by lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgender people (LGB). It identifies some key issues: staffing; management and leadership; monitoring sexual orientation tackling prejudice and discrimination; and involving LGB people who use services. It notes specific issues for LGB people using services such as to the extent to which they and "significant others" are made welcome. Good practice pointers in supporting transgender people are suggested, also websites for relevant national organisations. (RH).
