Annotation | The Older Family Carers Initiative (OFCI) was a three year project designed to support Learning Disability Partnership Boards across England to identify and meet the needs of older family carers of people with learning disabilities, as prioritised in the White Paper, 'Valuing people'. The project began in 2002 and closed in 2005 with a new toolkit developed to help the Boards, entitled "Valuing Families : a toolkit for family friendly services". This is the first in a series of good practice guidelines, which are part of the resources that were developed to reflect the lessons learned and the good practice developed across the country to support older family carers. It is available from FPLD as a download; see website for details. (KJ/RH). |
