Annotation'A review of literature on effective interventions that prevent and respond to harm against adults' is the title of a research report compiled for the Scottish Government by Halina Kalaga and colleagues at the University of Staffordshire and Bridget Penhale of the University of Sheffield. This article explores their research which has as its context the coming into force of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 and the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (applicable in England and Wales). The review's aim was to document the use of interventions ranging from legal to welfare responses. This article notes the limits of the knowledge and evidence that was available, also the practice implications of the research. (RH).
