Annotation | The writer comments on the article by Vanessa Burholt and colleagues, 'Reliability and validity of the Older Americans Resources and Services (OARS) social resources scale in six European countries'. Just because a measure has been carefully devised for use in one country does not necessarily make it usable elsewhere and across a number of countries. Articles such as that by Burholt et al are necessary to highlight likely problems (e.g. differences of language, ethnicity, political situation) in using scales such as OARS. (RH). |
