AnnotationThis report presents the latest information from the Expenditure and Food Survey (EFS) for the year April 2006/March 2007. 6,650 households in Great Britain took part in this EFS (response rate 55%) and 54% in Northern Ireland. The report's format changed in 2003/04 and the tables of key results on expenditure by age, income, socio-economic characteristics, household composition, tenure, region and ownership of durable goods (all previously found in the main body of the report) are now in Appendix A. This edition celebrates 50 years of results from the Expenditure and food Survey and, its predecessor, the Family Expenditure Survey which began in 1957. Since this time, some 320,000 households have taken part over the last 50 years. Further statistics can be found at the website of ONS (www.statistics.gov.uk). (KJ/RH).
