Annotation | This introduction to the special section on "Telehealth" outlines the four articles that follow on this subject, with a consideration that it is "premature to render a definitive judgement about the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of telehealth in meeting the health needs of disabled individuals, especially older adults with chronic illnesses". It is considered that the use of telecommunications technologies and transmission systems alone is not the challenge, rather in making such telehealth interventions "relevant, socially acceptable and easy to use" for older adults.
