Keywords | Housing [elderly] ; Policy ; House removal ; Retirement communities ; United States of America. |
Annotation | The ten articles in this issue seek to capture some of the key aspects of the transitions older citizens experience in moving to new types of housing and locations to settle for a better quality of life; and how housing programmes can contribute to the maintenance of lifestyles. These articles are a mixture of research summarising what is known already, or exploring new issues. Some are written from the perspective of social workers about several key American policy issues, particularly the unfolding impact of the Olmstead decision made in 1999 (the Supreme Court's interpretation of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)). The last three articles are on the theme of naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs). (KJ/RH). |
