Annotation | This paper examines the changing philosophy of the traditional care and support of older population groups in South-Western Nigeria. The method of inquiry was basically qualitative through focus group discussions (12 sessions) with three older people age 60+, and in-depth interviews (12 sessions) with 12 employed adults. The findings showed that the perception of people towards the elders was quite different from what is used to be in the past. The values placed on elders were diminishing, as was the perception of their contribution to development. (KJ/RH). |
