Annotation | The need to reduce vacancies, encourage new entrants, improve recruitment and retention, and increase numbers of staff with relevant qualifications and skills in social care is remarked upon in this article. Skills for Care, the national workforce development organisation for social care and part of the Skills for Business network, has responded to this problem by developing the National Minimum Dataset for Social Care (NMDS-SC) to gather workforce information on the social care sector. The author comments on data trends to date and the availability of this information (at http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/). (RH). |
