AnnotationThe Senior Odyssey was developed to promote social and intellectual engagement in older people. Modelled after the Odyssey of the Mind programme, Senior Odyssey teams meet for one hour weekly for 20 weeks to engage in creative and collaborative problem solving. Within the larger context of the Senior Odyssey research programme, qualitative assessments (i.e. interviews and observations) were conducted to provide an understanding of how the programme was experienced by participants. Experiences are described in terms of social engagement, intellectual engagement, personal growth, and the programme as a unique opportunity. Findings suggested that many participants found the programme intellectually stimulating and that it filled a unique niche in their lives. (RH).
