AnnotationOral health is a major factor in maintaining quality of life. Older people suffer disproportionately from poor oral health with consequent effects on their quality of life. Almost half of older people lack natural teeth and rely on inadequate dentures. Many older people do not have access to the services of a dentist - often because of mobility problems, isolation access to dental surgeries, shortage of dentists or cost. This Information Paper is aimed at healthcare professionals, and seeks to address what UK care homes can do to help their residents maintain their oral health. An A3 poster is included. (KJ/RH).
