Annotation | Bismarckian welfare systems are found mostly in continental Europe and offer a level of social protection that is dependent on work/contributions (e.g. payroll taxes). Articles in this issue of Social Policy & Administration examine social policy reforms closest to the "Bismarckian" model: old-age, health, and unemployment insurance; elder-care policy reforms; long-term care policies; and the role of firms and social partners in family policies. Articles consider these aspects of reform as they relate to particular countries, and for which the pace of change since the 1990s has been noticeable. (RH). |
