AnnotationFragility fractures and their care are presenting a challenge to the UK's health care system, with around 300,000 patients with such fractures each year and current projections indicate that numbers of hip fracture patients will double by 2050. This Blue Book seeks to summarise in concise form what is known from the evidence and also what is at present good practice in the field of fracture services. It is a collaborative venture, widely supported including by the charity, the National Osteoporosis Society. It offers practical help on how to address patients' needs with evidence-based care recommendations, standards, service models and use of the national audit project, NHFD (National Hip Fracture Database).
