Annotation | Age Concern England (ACE) and the Mental Health Foundation have co-ordinated the UK Inquiry into Mental Health and Well-being in Later Life (MHILLI), chaired by June Crown and begun in 2003 in response to the view that older people's mental health needs were being neglected. This article examines the findings of the Inquiry's second report, 'Improving services and support for older people with mental health problems', for example that in the next 15 years, 1 in 15 of the population will be an older person experiencing mental health problems. The focus is on access to support services, and five main areas for action: ending discrimination; prioritising prevention; enabling older people; improving current services; and facilitating change.
