Annotation | A significant proportion of Medicare beneficiaries are enrolled in managed care plans under the Medicare+Choice program, in order to reduce their out-of-pocket spending benefits, particularly prescription drugs. This paper and an accompanying Briefing note (same title) presents findings supporting the view that health maintenance organisations' (HMOs) coverage is not as comprehensive as they would wish beneficiaries and potential enrollees to believe.
