Annotation | Even after death, people look to keep the memory or even physicality of their loved ones alive as part of their everyday lives. In this article, the author explores people's behaviour towards ashes to help them cope with the grieving process, sometimes contradicting the beliefs of the professionals involved. For more detail, the reader is referred to the study by Hockey, Kellaher and Prendergast, 'Environments of memory' funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) 2002-2005. (RH). |
