Annotation | Are most churchgoers older because they are of a generation when religion had a larger role in people's lives? Or is it because of an increased sense of mortality as people age? Religion is not the same as spirituality. An individual can be spiritual but not follow a religion, and vice versa; but our stereotypes of older people do not place them under the 'spiritual' label. The author outlines findings from her research into spirituality in older people conducted with SCOP (the Spiritual Care of Older People Project of the Diocese of Oxford). (RH). |
