AnnotationThese guidelines are issued jointly by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the Department of Health (DH). They represent recommended practice for organisations involved in hospital admission and meeting the needs of people who are homeless or living in temporary or insecure accommodation. They were drawn up by an expert steering group consisting of representatives from Homeless Link, the London Network for Nurses and Midwives, and the Health Inclusion Advisory Group. The aim of this guidance document is to support hospitals, Primary Care Trusts, local authorities and the voluntary sector, working in partnership, to develop an effective admission and discharge protocol for people who are homeless or living in temporary or insecure accommodation. The over-arching aim of the protocol will be to ensure that no-one is discharged from hospital to the streets or inappropriate accommodation. (KJ/RH).
