AnnotationThe consultation referred to concerns the Government's plans to set up a scheme to use unclaimed deposits held in 'dormant accounts' (those where the building society or bank has lost contact with the account holder), while still retaining the individual's right to reclaim money at any time, with interest. Age Concern England (ACE) supports the general principle, but would wish that re-uniting older people with their assets should be a key aim. Moreover, such assets should be used for supporting older people. This summary outlines ACE's key recommendations to the consultation. (RH).
