AnnotationClostridium difficile infection is recognised as a frequent cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea and antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis in patients admitted to hospital in the UK. Despite all measures to curtail any outbreak, the. incidence of clostridium difficile has been increasing in recent years. This article reviews the epidemiology, impact and management options for tackling the infection. (RH)
