Annotation | The Healthcare Commission is the health watchdog in England, whose job is to check that healthcare services are meeting standards in a range of areas, including safety, cleanliness and waiting times. Acting on feedback in reports such as its "Living well in later life" and a variety of other sources, the Commission has been developing an approach to check whether NHS trusts are treating hospital patients with dignity and respect. In this article, the Commission's Strategy Development Manager, Long term Conditions and Older People Services outlines the challenges to making dignity in care work. (RH). |
