AnnotationThis toolkit is the third in a series of publications commissioned by the Health Development Agency (HDA) from the midlife programme of work. It provides a menu of methods for health and social care practitioners to measure effectiveness, which can be easily adapted to local issues and context. The methods covered are: carrying out a survey using a questionnaire; using routinely collected information; gathering people's experiences; using a reflective diary to capture practitioners' experiences; producing photographs and videos as evidence; and measuring cost-effectiveness or benefits. Another pamphlet gives further information sources. This document was undertaken by the HDA, but published after its functions were transferred to the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) on 1 April 2005; it does not represent NICE guidance.
