Managing the non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease | Author(s) | Doug MacMahon, Simon McIntosh |
Journal title | Geriatric Medicine, vol 37, no 5, May 2007 |
Pages | pp 43-49 |
Keywords | Parkinson's disease ; Symptoms. |
Annotation | Non-motor symptoms such as depression, sleep disturbance or hallucinations are common in Parkinson's disease (PD), but often these are under-recognised and poorly treated. The frequency of non-motor symptoms usually increases with severity of disease, and are thus more likely to affect older patients, many of whom may have have PD for 15 years or more. The authors discuss the major non-motor symptoms. (RH). |
