AnnotationQUALIDEM is a quality of life measure for people with dementia in residential settings rated by professional caregivers. In a sample of 202 residents of nursing homes in the Netherlands, Spearman rank correlations were calculated between the QUALIDEM sub-scales and indices of convergent validity, with dementia severity and need of care with global QOL scores by the head nurse and family, and with self-report on COOP/WONCAC charts. While QOL rated by professional caregivers with the QUALIDEM had sufficient validity to be used for care evaluation and research in residential settings, observations of family members differed substantially from those of professional caregivers.
