AnnotationAge Concern England (ACE) recognises that metering is a method of charging that is well understood and that many older households may have benefited from lower bills by having a meter installed. However, ACE remains unconvinced that there would be sufficient reduction in water consumption by having compulsory metering. The consultation,. "Water metering in areas of water stress" was conducted by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) January-April 2007. (RH)
