AnnotationThe Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a consultation on "The future of the Post Office network", and this response from Age Concern England (ACE) emphasises the essential nature of the service for older people, based on surveys and consultations with them. Among other things, ACE calls for the Government to develop a rural strategy that includes the role of the post office network; and that there must be thorough local consultation about proposals for closure and of provisions for any alternative service delivery.
