AnnotationThis report presents the latest information from the Expenditure and Food Survey (EFS) for the year April 2005/March 2006. 6,785 households in Great Britain took part in this EFS (response rate 57%) and 50% in Northern Ireland. The report's format changed in 2003/04 and the tables of key results on expenditure by age, income, socio-economic characteristics, household composition, tenure, region and ownership of durable goods (all previously found in the main body of the report) are now in Appendix A. This year's report has two detailed chapters: expenditure on housing; and the impact of equivalising income when calculating results. This change of style has been made to present increased detail and analysis about certain aspects of interest to survey users. In future years, it is intended to report on different aspects of the survey results in similar levels of detail. Further statistics can be found at the website of ONS (www.statistics.gov.uk).
