AnnotationIn the US, there are some 78 million baby boomers (age 55+). The author introduces the proposition that the older people's civic engagement movement will prove to transformative in the 21st century, and will strengthen all levels of society: individuals, families, communities, and the social fabric itself. She cites examples of initiatives in the not-for-profit sector, those relating to the 1965 Older Americans Act (OAA), and those of ageing organisations. (RH).
