Annotation | The preference model of activity in advanced age is based on the presumption that there exists a normal distribution of activity in the population, and that people tend to maintain the same level of activity through the whole life cycle, even though the forms and extent of the activities themselves may change. This paper argues that the position of the individual within the model will be based on preferences and values rather than variables such as age, education or health status. The paper provides an outline of the theory of the model, and some preliminary evidence gained from the leisure activities of Czech older people. (RH). |
