Management of acutely disturbed behaviour in the general hospital | Author(s) | John Naylor, Samantha Boothroyd, John Wattis |
Journal title | Geriatric Medicine, vol 37, no 3, March 2007 |
Pages | pp 53-58 |
Keywords | Mental disorder ; Medical care ; Hospital services. |
Annotation | It is not uncommon for older people in hospital to have mental health problems. Acute behavioural disturbances may be a presentation of delirium, but it might also be misunderstood by clinical staff; and individuals with specific problems, such as dysphasis or agnosis could be mislabelled as confused. The authors outlines a management approach, and present the role of the liaison nurse in the psychogeriatric team. (RH). |
