AnnotationA pilot study aimed to examine the accessibility and flexibility of the Community Aged Care Package (CACP) programme and to make recommendations for further improvement. Data were collected using structured interviews with 80 CACP recipients and postal surveys with 9 CACP service co-ordinators. Descriptive statistics and chi squared analysis were used for quantitative data, and thematic analysis for qualitative information. CACPs were used more frequently and for longer periods by clients with English-speaking backgrounds and those living alone. More than 62% of clients were extremely satisfied with the service. However, participants expressed concerns about CACPs including inflexibility, lack of communication between service providers and other health services, poor continuity and quality of care, inadequate funding, and problems with recruitment, retention and support for staff. While clients' overall satisfaction levels were rated high, qualitative information suggested a need for improvement of the current delivery of the CACP programme. (RH).
