Annotation | In a UK-wide survey published by Help the Aged in January 2006, only 2% of respondents thought that tackling elder abuse was a priority when considered spontaneously, despite evidence suggesting that as many as one in eight had been affected. The publication of the survey's findings marked the launch of the "I will" campaign, challenging the public to help stop elder abuse. This article outlines the survey's findings on perceptions of mistreatment and attitudes towards elder abuse. It sets out what the "I will" campaign hopes to achieve. (RH). |
