Annotation | This special issue of Clinical Gerontologist looks at newer psychosocial interventions for families affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other dementing illnesses. The articles refer to projects that are either at a pilot stage or the early stages of a large evaluative study. Also reflected is the interdisciplinary character of the research, involving gerontology, medicine, nursing, psychology, public health and social work. The projects also reflect a growing awareness of the need for culturally competent research, whereby interventions are appropriate for diverse populations (e.g. African American, Hispanic, rural and urban).
