Annotation | Direct payments were introduced in 1997 following implementation of the Community Care (Direct Payments) Act 1996. The White Paper "Our health, our care, our say" (Cm 6737; TSO, 2006) states that the Government is wanting more people to enjoy the benefits of of direct payments. This short article looks at the Government's proposals for extending direct payments to those who lack capacity. (RH). |
