AnnotationThis briefing note is a revised edition of the 2003 publication "Forgotten families" and is one of seven briefing notes each on a different topic. There four main sections: Introduction, Issues, Principles and Strategies. The more successful strategies have been noted, but not all of these have been studied yet. Provided that appropriate support is available - as demonstrated in this report - older carers who are supporting orphans and vulnerable children can overcome some of the challenges posed by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
