AnnotationVolunteers reporting higher family functioning. and better health compared to non-volunteers are the main findings of a cross-sectional survey of 179 respondents aged 55-100. Implications for social workers involved with volunteer programmes and services are discussed in terms of volunteer recruitment and retention, and the related need to develop policies that permit more flexibility and choice with regard to volunteer responsibilities.
