AnnotationIn Hong Kong, there have been a few studies of insomnia among the population. The authors note that it has been well documented that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a treatment to be used in treating insomnia. The present article concerns the effectiveness of a group intervention with the support of non-pharmacological Chinese medicine for Chinese older adults with insomnia, which was evaluated with 13 women aged 65 to 81. The intervention group is part of the Chinese Medical Social Service Pilot Project. The authors describe the intervention as it was implemented; provide qualitative and quantitative data regarding its effectiveness; and conclude with a consideration of its implications for social work practice.
