AnnotationThe research project, the Older Generation and the European Information Society: Access to the Information Society (AOP-IS), has traced barriers for older people in accessing computer and telecommunication services. The project has been co-ordinated jointly by the European Institute for the Media (EIM) in Dusseldorf, Germany and the Netherlands Platform for Older People and Europe (NPOE) in Utrecht, the Netherlands. This final report presents the project's main conclusions on the benefits of information and communication technologies (ICT) for older people, while also noting demographic change and income as important factors. It makes recommendations on the following: raising awareness; improving co-ordination between initiatives; synergy and co-ordination in policy; content; learning; access to technology and infrastructure; and research.
