Annotation | This article focuses on the increasing cultural diversity of older Americans and of health care providers. Trends are given for the projected population growth of African Americans, Asian, Hispanic and American Indian groups (adapted from US Bureau of the Census, 1993). This growth will change the future of geriatric care. Preparation for such care needs to start now to ensure cultural competency and proficiency at all levels. (KJ/RH). |
