AnnotationThis guide has been produced by Nacro in partnership with Age Concern England (ACE) on behalf of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS). It aims to highlight older prisoners' welfare and needs, and to suggest ideas to engage with organisations providing services in the community, to improve older prisoners' day-to-day lives. It is arranged in four parts, the first of which includes data, a summary of findings of the Prison Inspectorate report, "No problems - old and quiet", also a section on older women prisoners. Part 2 deals with signs and symptoms of mental and physical conditions experienced by older people. Part 3, on good practice ideas, suggests practical steps that prisoners and prison staff can take to improve older prisoners' mental, physical and social well-being. Part 4, sources of help and information, lists agencies offering prison-based and community services for older prisoners. (RH).
