AnnotationFirst published in 1998, this book integrates clinical practice and research, and is written for clinicians and clinical students interested in working with older people and their families. The book gives an overview of the normal psychological processes of ageing. It looks at the problems and disorders of later life and their treatment: dementia and delirium; mood and anxiety disorders, especially depression; and personality and psychotic disorders. The methods for assessing older people - the clinical interview and psychological testing - emphasise approaches for differentiating dementia from other disorders. Later chapters broaden the focus to include caregivers, nursing homes, and ethical issues. (RH).
