Annotation | The University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust (UBHT) has set up a Working Party for Management of Agitated Patients to co-ordinate a multifaceted programme linking efforts to develop: guidelines for good practice; evidence-based protocols for assessment, treatment and documentation; improved involvement and information for patients and carers; and multidisciplinary training packages. This article discusses one particular area of work, the use of restraint (bed-rails and padding). Another multidisciplinary group has been considering issues around the National Service Framework for Older People (NSF) and depression, confusion and cognitive impairment. (RH). |
