AnnotationDifferences between the older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (OLGBT) community and those of the mainstream heterosexual community are explored in terms of definition, statistics, history, and discrimination. Differences within the OLGBT community are discussed, along with the issues in common to all OLGBT people regarding suitable environments that meet their needs. Ways in which OLGBT people are being recognised and celebrated locally and nationally in the UK are considered. Attention is drawn to a national research project, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Lives over 50, and to an OLGBT Housing and care needs research project in Brighton. (RH).
