AnnotationThis pocket guide was developed by the RCN as part of a project commissioned by the Help the Aged Dignity on the Ward campaign. Jan Dewing was the author of the original version of this guide but this edition contains amendments by members and staff of the RCN. This guide is not intended to be a guide to the clinical treatment of patients with dementia or acute confusion but provides practical information to hospital staff working with patients who have dementia or confusion on acute wards. It is hoped that hospital staff will understand better the needs of this vulnerable group of patients, and the importance of taking a person-centred approach. (KJ).
