AnnotationBy way of introduction to three articles on cognitive stimulation in dementia, an editorial by Moniz-Cook sets the scene with a summary of previous research and articles on this theme that relate to mental exercise and mental activity as therapies for dementia. The first article, by Farinamd et al, reports an evaluation of two group programmes of cognitive training in mild-to-moderate dementia, comparing "global" stimulation to cognitive-specific. Fiori et al look at social relations and depressive symptomatology and self-efficacy as a mediator. Lastly, Woods et al report on a trail on improved quality of life and cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) in dementia. (RH).
