Annotation | Recent studies with younger adults show some promising results for the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating depression. The authors report a 6-month pilot with 13 patients, most of whom had chronic depression symptoms. Of these, 3 dropped out either because the therapy was unhelpful or too painful. While only limited conclusions can be drawn from such a small study, this short article suggests that the other participants found the therapy relaxing and helped to improve their mood. (RH). |
