Annotation | The National Pensioners Convention (NPC) summarises and analyses the main proposals in 'Security in retirement: towards a new pensions system' (Cm 6841). NPC comments that the White Paper makes no recommendations of immediate benefit to existing pensioners (particularly women). NPC calls for a basic state pension of at least £114.05 a week, and restoring the link between the state pension and average earnings. (RH). |
