Annotation | The Green Paper referred to, "Towards a strategy on mental health for the European Union" (October 2005), aimed to launch a debate about the relevance of mental health for the European Union (EU). This summary outlines Age Concern England's (ACE) responses to three specific consultation questions. First, how relevant is the mental health of the population for the EU's strategic objectives? Second, would the development of a comprehensive EU strategy on mental health add value to the existing and envisaged actions and does it propose adequate priorities? Third, are the initiatives proposed appropriate to support the coordination between Member States, to promote integration of mental health into the health and non-health policies and stakeholder action, and to better liaise research and policy on mental health issues? A full version of the response is available on ACE's website. (RH). |
