AnnotationFollowing a marked increase in the suicide rate for males (other than those aged 65+) since the 1970s in Scotland, the Choose Life national strategy and action plan to prevent suicide in Scotland was launched in December 2002. The Scottish Executive commissioned a research consortium to evaluate the policy's first phase (2003-2006). This report presents findings and makes recommendations regarding the strategy and action plan's sustainability, allocation of resources, decision making processes and learning, innovative practices, and perceived progress.
